As the blessed occasion of Eid Al-Adha arrives, our hearts are renewed with the meanings of sacrifice and devotion, and the values of patience and faith ascend. It is an occasion to strengthen family and social bonds, and to renew our commitment to solidarity and cooperation, carrying with it the warmest greetings and sincere wishes for goodness, prosperity, and joy. This Eid represents an opportunity to rekindle hope and pray for blessings in life, health, sustenance, and forgiveness on the Day of Judgment.
This Eid comes to Sudan and its people under exceptional and difficult circumstances. The nation faces immense challenges due to the ongoing war that erupted in mid-April 2023. This war has caused a new wave of power-driven attacks by adventurers who do not know the history of Sudan or the qualities of Sudanese people, an exacerbating displacement crisis, violence based on false slogans from the rebels, and widespread destruction of infrastructure. These circumstances impose a moment of reflection and a renewal of resolve on everyone.
The arrival of Eid amidst this conflict creates a profound psychological challenge. While Eid typically represents a time for joy and gathering, the painful reality of conflict, displacement, and suffering casts a shadow over this occasion. Celebrating Eid under these conditions is not merely an expression of joy; it is an act of steadfastness in itself, an affirmation that the religious, spiritual, and cultural ties of the Sudanese people remain firm even in times of adversity.
This challenge transforms Eid into a symbol of national resilience, emphasizing that hope can shine even in the darkest circumstances. This reinforces the idea that steadfastness is not just the ability to endure, but also the ability to find sources of strength in religious rituals, ancient traditions, and shared values.
To Our Brave Armed Forces and Supporting Forces
To the brave Sudanese Armed Forces and all their supporting forces, including the Operations Authority forces, Popular Defense Forces, peaceful armed movements, Sudan's Shield, and the المستنفرين (mobilized civilians), and to everyone who bears arms in defense of the homeland's soil and sovereignty: you are the impenetrable shield and the strong barrier.
Your steadfastness in North Darfur and Kordofan states, and before that, your great victories in Al Jazirah, Sennar, Khartoum, and various fronts, and your defiance of harsh conditions, are a source of pride and honor for every Sudanese.
The Sudanese army recently announced the complete restoration of Khartoum state and its clearance from elements of the rebellious and dissolved Rapid Support Forces after fierce battles. These field developments, some of which reflect a noticeable retreat and internal fissures within the rebel ranks, show that the armed forces continue to perform their duty and achieve victories day after day.
To Our Patient People Within Sudan
To our patient people in the various states within Sudan, who have endured the burdens of displacement and homelessness, the loss of family and loved ones, and the destruction of livelihoods: the war has caused the world's largest displacement crisis, with 6.5 million people internally displaced and another 1.7 million forced to move to neighboring countries. We recognize the extent of your suffering. At least 80% of hospitals are out of service, and medical facilities have been looted and destroyed. Your steadfastness and resilience in the face of these harsh circumstances are a testament to the strength of your will and the depth of your belonging to your land, and are a true embodiment of national resilience.
To Our Loyal Sons and Daughters Abroad
To the loyal sons and daughters of Sudan who were forced by circumstances to relocate outside the homeland, in neighboring countries and around the world: your adherence to your identity, your concern for Sudan's future, and your steadfastness in expatriation represent an additional strength for the nation. Our hearts are with you, and our hope is for your swift return to contribute to building the Sudan of tomorrow, especially since the displacement of professional competencies such as doctors, engineers, and teachers poses a significant obstacle to future reconstruction efforts, making their return vital.
A United Stand
The experiences of suffering and steadfastness that Sudanese people are enduring, whether they are stationed on the front lines, patiently enduring in the states, or standing firm abroad, show a deep interconnectedness. Each group, despite its different circumstances, faces challenges stemming from the same major challenges for Sudanese people in the battle for dignity and national steadfastness.
This interconnectedness illustrates that steadfastness is not merely an individual trait, but a unifying national characteristic. Highlighting the steadfastness of each group separately gives special appreciation for their unique sacrifices, while simultaneously contributing to building a unified national narrative that enhances the feeling of shared purpose and common destiny. This steadfastness is the cornerstone in building a strong foundation for recovery and national unity and working to build the nation with all detachment, determination, and sincerity.
